Duct High Limit Switches Control Exhaust Fans

Duct High Limit Switches Control Exhaust Fans

On: July 10, 2018
In: Building Automation Systems, HVAC

Many buildings require a high limit switch to prevent spread of fire or smoke. If the building uses an exhaust fan to maintain cooling, many building inspectors will require a limit control to be in place, such as the TC duct high limit switch. A duct high limit switch can sense temperature change up to 200°F. If a fire or smoke is present, to avoid the exhaust fan from spreading the fire and smoke throughout the building, the duct high limit switch senses the air temperature change to shut down the exhaust fan preventing spread of the fire and smoke. Our CEMCO TC switch product line currently only provides a limit switch solution (contacts open on temperature rise). Many of our competitors offer a duct fan and limit switch solution that we have began research and product development. The duct fan and limit switches will open and close two sets of contacts when there is a change in temperature. If you have a requirement for a fan and limit switch, click here to contact us. Firestat units are commonly installed in air duct systems to control the spread of fire and smoke when air temperature exceeds a pre-determined temperature. A simple control that is just as simple to install. Adjust the temperature dial to determined temperature (Click here for more information.) Install into the air duct system downstream of air flow. Wire the Firestat to a fan For more information about installing a Firestat in an air duct system, click the diagram below. Duct Limit Control Senses Temperature in Dryer | Firestat

On: April 26, 2017
In: Building Automation Systems

A duct limit control is commonly used in HVAC systems to detect air temperature inside a duct. Although, these temperature controls can also be found in grain dryers. The duct limit control functions the same in the grain dryer, but rather than sensing a building air duct temperature, the limit control senses a change in air temperature inside the dryer. When the grain blocks the air flow temperature, the duct limit control senses the temperature change shutting down the system. The operator must clear the blockage and manually reset the duct limit control to resume operation. Our duct limit control is available in two differentRead More →

On: March 18, 2015
In: Building Automation Systems, HVAC

Senasys TC duct limit control, or also known as firestat, is required among many states to be installed in large apartment complexes and commercial buildings. The firestat is a sensing device that shuts down airflow in the event of a critical temperature increase within an air duct. Senasys offers two different firestat options, fixed or adjustable; and multiple sensing element lengths are available (5″. 7.5″, 11″ or custom). For more information about the building code regulation and how the firestat functions, continue reading below.
